Project Overview

The Training Ground Seacan Construction project will create a local training facility for the Bear Lake Volunteer Fire Department and Bear Lake Volunteer Firefighters Association. As an all-volunteer fire department in a rural community, our members often have to travel outside the area to access training facilities and courses. This adds cost, takes time away from volunteers and their families, and limits how often members can practice important emergency response skills. This project will provide a safe, realistic, and repeatable training space right here in Bear Lake.

Equipment/Training Capabilities:

• 1 x 40' Shipping container.
• 1 x 20' Shipping container stacked for 2nd floor.
• Doors and windows.
• Concrete pad for base and protective foundation.
• Fencing to keep people and animals safe.
• Top Hatch for vertical entry (confined space)
• Side Hatch for Horizontal Entry (Confined space)
• Redirect Anchor points (High Angle Rope)

Operational Impact:

This project will directly improve emergency response in the Bear Lake area by giving our members a local place to train more often without having to travel out of town. Regular local training means better teamwork, stronger skills, faster decision-making, and more confidence during real emergencies. Our members will be better prepared for the types of calls common in our rural community, including structure fires, vehicle accidents, powerline hazards, gas line incidents, and rescue situations. In the future, this training ground could also create opportunities for nearby fire departments and emergency services to train in Bear Lake. By hosting courses or joint training events, the facility could help strengthen emergency response across the region while making better use of the training site.

Community Safety Benefits:

This facility will eliminate the need for expensive travel to distant training centers, allowing our volunteers to train more frequently and develop critical skills in a safe, controlled environment. The realistic scenarios will prepare our team for the types of emergencies they may encounter in our rural community.
